As effect of a restocking in sizes as well as an addition of new shades and calfskin varieties, an emphasis on the Galway collection as carried by Shoes & Shirts seems hardly inappropriate.
As one might know, its maker - that goes by the name of Edward Green & Co - has been known to produce the highest quality in terms of out-of-the-rack footwear that the country of England has to offer. During their time as the leading maker of British military officers' boots in the first part of the 20th century, the Galway model first made its appearance. While remaining to be constructed with the highest possible degree of care to ensure durability, this ever iconic model has gained turf in sartorial value, especially since the last few decades.
One characteristic that every true enthousiast will name and admire about the Galway style is the so-called 'moustache', located on the back quarters of the boot. This detail is derived from the weather resilient Veldtschoen construction this particular model has often been built on.
Our collection of Galway boots are Goodyear welted, also ensuring water resiliency, as well as the possibility to be resoled multiple times, something the fantastic upper leather naturally deserves. While our models in Edward Green's somewhat more rugged utah leather feature a rubber Dainite sole, we also carry models in the finest antique calfskin with leather soles that provide an amazingly elegant look.
