Invitation: Edward Green hand-sewing event

Edward Green was a man with an unmistakable passion for footwear. In 1890, he opened his workshop in Northampton, a city that has housed the best British shoemakers, and still does. His idea to manufacture shoes from the best materials available, with the handwork of the most skilled craftsmen, has been upheld up to this day, and will be continued for many years to come. 

"Excellence without compromise" 

This was Mr Greens philosophy, one that has never lost its value. 

As Shoes & Shirts, we are proud to have been carrying a beautiful collection of Edward Green models for several decades already. Among them, you will find quintessential classic items like the formal Chelsae cap-toe oxford and the double monk Westminster model, a true evergreen. 

Following Edward Green's philosophy of understanding the value of tradition yet thriving for a sense of adventure, more recent additions include a two-tone Galway boot with a defining 'moustache vamp', and the popular Dover model on the elegant 82-last, a much sought after but rarely seen combination.

Our most recently received model is the embodiment of our 30th anniversiry celebration, going by the name 'Clapham'. This uniquely made single monk with a hand-sewn apron is coloured in a deep burgundy shade and finished with a terrific shining job on the nose and back quarters. 

We would like to invite every enthousiast to our brick-and-mortar shop for a hand-sewing event in collaboration with Edward Green in the weekend of 13 and 14 October. Along with a specialist from their Jermyn Street store, one of the few craftsmen that are able to hand-sew aprons with the traditional pig-hair method will make a visit to our store. 

Special orders can be made with them during this event, and as a gesture we offer a complementary pair of Edward Green shoe trees with every order.
