Ign. Joseph - The perfect dress shirt
A while ago we had the pleasure of welcoming mister Ignatious Joseph in our store. Not only known for his impeccable shirts, Mr. Joseph is also known for his personal style. A true modern day dandy which is why he was featured in the book ‘We are Dandy’ written by Rose Callahan and Nathaniel Adams. Mr. Joseph came to our store to offer an extended collection of his shirts and to promote his feature in this book.
Some of Mr. Joseph's style staples are his beautiful bespoke red shoes and socks matched with slightly shorter grey trouers and a blazer in a rich blue hue. Most importantly, finished off with shirts from his own label. When you look at an Ign. Joseph shirt you can instantly recognise Mr. Joseph's characteristics: the right amount of boldness and a significant amount of attention to detail.
We have been fortunate enough to have had Ign. Joseph shirts as a part of our collection for many years. The shirts are made with the finest Egyptian cottons and feature a lot of meticulous handwork. What we believe to differentiate these Ign. Joseph shirts from many others is the impeccable ‘George’collar, a perfect spread collar with fine stitches about a centimeter from the edge of the collar. If you know this collar, you’ll instantly recognise an Ign. Joseph shirt. In our collection, the Ign. Joseph shirts are made with more outspoken fabrics – from interesting checks to finely woven stripes. The Ign. Joseph collection compliments our own shirt label, which mainly has colours and patterns that are essential to the professional wardrobe.
This collar and the cuffs of the shirt are completely unfused which means that it has a perfectly natural handle and gives a tremendous amount of comfort while being worn. This comfort is only enhanced by the fit of these shirts, while being slim they are not restrictive. The high armhole of the shirts gives a tremendous freedom of movement. This fit can be traced back to Mr. Joseph’s desire to make shirts in Italy, in accordance to the Italian shirtmaking tradition in which attention to detail is of utmost importance.
