The Portman by Crockett & Jones is a single monkstrap with a special twist. As part of their handgrade collection these shoes are defined by the refinements which are typically found at the highest level of shoemaking. Such as closed channel stitching and asymmetric lasts. The sleek 358 last and the elongated vamp make this shoe one of the most elegant offerings from Crockett & Jones. The Portman differs from other monkstraps in that it does not need te be fastened with the visable monkstrap. These shoes can be slipped on and will then be held in place by a hidden piece of elastic. This way of fastening eliminates most problems one may experience with the instep on a regular pair of monkstraps.
