Bontoni shoes are made following the long tradition of Italian shoemaking and are only reserved for a small group of aficionados worldwide who appreciate the art of handmade shoes.
Shoes & Shirts is proud to be one of the very few retailers world wide to work with this small atelier which is known for its abiding dedication to the art of shoemaking. Each Bontoni shoe requires hundreds of hand-stitches. The craftsman also named Calzolaio completes 300 tasks. Then the master craftsman, only after a 25 days of "rest" of the upper leather, starts with the process of handstitching the welt.
Bontoni uses the finest quality leather in order to ensure that the shoes will develop beautifully over time while also aiding the comfort of the shoes. The clicker who cuts the leather inspects each millimeter of the hide for the slightest hint of imperfections while also deciding which parts of the leather are to be used for particular parts of the shoe. Bontoni does this to ensure that the shoes feature a consistent leather in which the natural properties of the hide are used to enhance the appearance and function of the shoe.
